Hilarity ensues when family therapist Sitara and her tech entrepreneur husband, Sunny, lose all their money in a “bad investment”, forcing them to move in with his big, boisterous and fun loving Punjabi family in Abbotsford.

Arshdeep Purba as SITARA
Arshdeep Purba was born in Calgary, AB. As an aspiring artist, she moved to Vancouver, BC, where she received a diploma in Acting for Film and Television at the Vancouver Film School. She worked on “A Vancouver Guldasta” (Paneet Singh), “Bombay Black” (Rohit Chokhani) and “Undocumented Trial of William C Hopkinson” (South Asian Arts). She made her Punjabi Film debut in “Teri Meri Jodi” by Aditya Sood. Arshdeep takes pride working on stories that spark people’s hearts and minds, unite people of all cultures and bring a voice to silent stories that remain unheard.
Bushra Ansari as MUMMY-JI
Bushra Iqbal Ansari is a Pakistani actress, comedian, singer and playwright who started her career as a child performer in the 1960s. Ansari won numerous awards during her career, including the Presidential Pride of Performance Award in 1989 for her contributions to the arts of Pakistan. Bushra got her primary education from the Lady Griffin School, Lahore. She got her higher school certificate from the Lahore College for Women University. After her intermediate, she attended Waqarunnisa College, Rawalpindi for the pursuit of her bachelor in the Fine Arts in 1977.
Arkie Kandola as SUNNY
Arkie Kandola is a Canadian-born actor and producer raised in Vancouver, BC. He first appeared on screen in 2013 after being featured in a national Vitamin Water commercial alongside Steve Nash. He subsequently established a YouTube channel which has garnered over 22 million views.
Arkie quickly amassed credits in film & television including Fox’s Prison Break, Freeform’s Siren, CBS’s The Twilight Zone, NBC’s Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and Universal’s feature film, Easter Sunday, with Jo Koy. Most recently he has shot a series regular role on the award-winning comedy Our Big Punjabi Family and appears in a recurring guest star role on ABC’s How to Die Alone, written by and starring Natasha Rothwell.
Rakhra Bhavkhandan Singh as PAPA-JI
Bhavkhandan Singh Rakhra (B K Singh Rakhra) started working for the theatre in Vancouver B.C., Canada at the early age of 18. He immigrated to Canada in 1974 from Punjab, India and has been living in Vancouver, B.C since then. His passion for acting in theatres and films has grown tremendously and he has gained a respectable and reputable name in the industry. Rakhra completed his graduation from Vancouver and has received his certification in Management. He studied and took acting lessons and workshops through different acting institutions in Vancouver, B.C. Rakhra was nominated for “The Leo Awards” in 2012 for his acting in best male lead performance for his film “Afternoon Tea.”
Usha Uppal as VADI-PUA
Usha Uppal is making her television series debut in Our Big Punjabi Family and she’s so grateful to be part of this stellar cast. After having done some commercial work in Ottawa, she landed her first film role in 2022 in the Indie film Calorie. She is currently shooting in Toronto on the set of Lilly Singh’s new movie.
Usha studied dramatic arts at Punjabi University in Patiala, India where she won the best theatre actress award at Chandigarh’s Tagore theatre in the 60s. After having to give up her dream of becoming an actress when she got married and had children, Usha is now inspiring others with the message that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. She’s forever grateful to show runner Leena Manro for making her acting dreams come true!
Balinder Johal as DADI-MA
Balinder Johal is an Indo-Canadian actress. She is best known for her roles in “Deepa Mehta,” “Heaven on Earth,” for which she was a Leo Award nominee for Best Supporting Actress in 2009, and Beeba Boys, for which she garnered a Canadian Screen Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress at the 4th Canadian Screen Awards in 2016.
Originally from Punjab, Johal was educated in India before moving to Canada to pursue a master’s degree in education at the University of British Columbia. As a stage actress, her most noted performances included “Here and Now,” a forum theatre play about urban gang violence in Vancouver and Anosh Irani’s, “My Granny the Goldfish.”
Navneet Kaur as BABZ
Navneet Kaur is making her television debut as Babz in Our Big Punjabi Family. Born and raised in a small town in Northern British Columbia, Navneet possesses over half a decade of Vancouver based screen acting training.
Navneet comes from a competitive multidisciplinary dance and musical theatre background and has been performing since the age of 11.
Rakhi Sharma as MEENU
Rakhi Sharma was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada. She has been acting since the age of 11, where she started performing in school theatre productions. As her passion for the craft grew stronger, she decided to pursue acting more seriously, with on-camera acting classes. Since then, she has signed with the Characters Talent Agency, and has landed roles in commercials, as well as an undisclosed Apple TV series (soon to be released). Her most significant acting job has been her Recurring role as Meenu on “Our Big Punjabi Family” (Rogers/OMNI), which she was thrilled to be a part of. In addition to acting, Rakhi loves many outdoor activities such as camping, biking, swimming
and soccer.
